The Board of Economists is a Key institution of the Africa Economic Forum. It is charged with providing AEF, its industry and government partners, expert advice and opinion on key economic issues as it relates to the industries and countries. It will also provide independent advice to african governments on various economic issues. The board shall base it recommendations and analysis on sound economic research and empirical evidence, using the best data available to support its position in setting Africa’s economic policies. It shall operate within the office of the President of Africa Economic Forum. The Board of Economists is fully represented in board of directors and board of Trustees of the Organization.

Committees of the Board

The board shall set up committees for specific purposes such as:
  • Specific industries in Africa
  • Specific countries in Africa
  • Specific Regions of Africa
Each committee shall be made up of a:
  • Chairman
  • 2 - 4 other Members
The chairman and at least 2 members being full members of the Board of Economists

It shall consist of:
  • Chairman
  • Vice Chairman
  • 11 - 15 other members
Some of the tasks of the board includes:
  • Assist the office of the president in preparing the economic reports, an annual report written by the chairman, that provides an overview of Africa Economic progress with special considerations for industries and countries of Africa.
  • Analyzing information on economic developments and trends with emphasis on industries and countries of Africa.
  • Review Governments' policies and programs to ensure they continue to promote sound economic polices within Africa.
  • Recommending economic policies that will benefit AEF partners, industries and Governments In Africa and benefit African workers.
The Chief Economist shall be secretary to the board of economists, and the COO to the Board.
The Chief Economist shall report to president of AEF. The position carries the status of a senior vice president
The Board of Economists shall meet at least twice in a year.
